Princess of Hill Station

Lying amidst the folds of the lush Pali hills is Kodikanal, which is among the most serene hill stations in Tamilnadu, India. Its wooded slopes, rugged rocks, gushing waterfalls and tranquil lake, Kodikanal is a must visit hill station. It positions itself at an elevation of about 2,133 m high and sprawls in an area of 21.45 sq km. Kurinji flower is another highlight of the place, which blooms once after every 12 years. History

The history of Kodaikanal dates back to prehistoric era. The Prehistoric remains found near the Palani Hills are from 5000 BC while others are 2000 years old. After passing through many invasions, today Kodaikanal is a famous hill station in India.

Kodaikanal Solar Observatory

Kodaikanal Solar Observatory

The observatory dates back to 1899. It is a part of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics.
The 20 cm refractors are the major draws of the observatory here. It is used for cometary and occultation. Astronomy Museum displays different pictorial with a live solar image and a library.


Berijam Lake

Lying at a distance of 21 km from the hill station, Berijam Lake is among the most gorgeous lakes of South India. Sprawled over an area of 24 hectares, the lake boasts of its pure water.


Bear Shola Falls

These waterfalls are another favourite tourist spots in Kodikanal. In earlier days, bears used to visit the place to drink water from this fall, which is why it has got name of Bear Shola Falls.
This is among the most popular picnic spots in Kodaikanal town.


Dolphin’s Nose

This scenic point is situated around 8 km from the bus stand. Known for offering panoramic views of the plains and villages, it can be reached from the old road after crossing Pamper Bridge.


Devil's Kitchen

It is a very dangerous deep hidden ravine that is loved by adventure enthusiasts. Tourists from all across the world come to visit the place.


Green Valley View

Previously known as Suicide Point, the area is known as Green Valley View. It offers panoramic vista of the valleys, plains, hills and the Vaigai dam. The deep valley below this point is more than 5000 feet drop.
