History

This is another must watch sight in the hilly terrain of Mahabaleshwar. It is an old structure that represents the influence of the British style architecture. Morarji Castle enchants tourists with its stunning look.


Arthur's Seat

The spot is 1470 m high and is considered as the queen of all points. It got its names after Arthur Mallet who was the first man to visit here and built a house at the spot. The sight boasts of being the only place where travellers can watch the geographical distinction between the Deccan and Konkan territories.


Elephant's Head Point

It is another interesting place to visit in Mahabaleshwar. The cliffs overhanging looks like elephant's head and trunk. That is the reason why it has got its name. The point also offers spectacular views of the surroundings.


Mahabaleshwar Temple

Dedicated to Lord Shiva as its presiding deity, The Mahabaleshwar temple is a famous place. Encircled with 5 feet high stone wall, the hills were named after Lord Mahabali, meaning great strength. It is divided into two sections-the inner room and the outer room.


Pratapgarh Fort

If you wish to relive the history, then head to Pratapgarh Fort that exhibits the history of Maratha Emperor Shivaji. Afzal Khan met his death at the spot, which lies 24 km west of Mahabaleshwar. Built in the year 1656, the fort is a maze of ponds, chambers and dark paths.
