Aptly referred as the "Blue Mountains", Niligiri Hills is among the captivating hill stations in Tamilnadu. Ooty Lake

Just behind the Main bus stand, the famous Ooty Lake sprawls in an irregular 'L' shape. All types of boats are available for hire in morning and evening. In recent years, the lake has become the hub of entertainment for visitors. The lake was artificially formed by Johm Sullivan, who was the founder of Ooty.

Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary

The sanctuary is located at where the Western Ghats conjoin the Eastern Ghats. The Mysore-Ooty highway moves through the sanctuary and follows the course of the Mayyar River that divides Mudumalai from Bandipur. Sprawling across 321 sq km, the sanctuary comprises a National park that is spread in an area of 103 sq-kms. Tourists can see a variety of animal and bird life. Rich flora of the sanctuary has also made it very popular among wildlife lovers.

Botanical Garden

The gardens serve as a prominent tourist attraction for the visitors of Ooty. Sprawling across an area of 50 acres, the garden lies on the lower slopes of Dodabetta peak. It is the highest point in Ooty.

Dolphin's Nose

Lying about 12-km from Coonoor, this famous site is an unique rock of enormous proportions. It reveals vast scenery including Catherine falls.

Doddabetta Peak

Lying at a distance of 14 kms from Nilgiris, Doddabetta peak is among the highest peaks of South India. Travellers can enjoy the beauty of the plains of Coimbatore and Mysore and gorgeous valleys of the adjoining area. The peak also offers trekking opportunities.


It is a romantic destination at Nilgiris and is frequented by couples. Lying at 1950 m from sea level, this spectacular hill station boasts of its quaint ambiance. Catherine Falls, Kodanad viewpoint and Elk Falls are the places that can be visited here.


Located around 21 km away, Pykara is a gift of Nilgiri Hills. Its attractions include reservoir, dam and falls. Flowing through it, the Pykara River gushes down from 55 m and adds beauty to the site. The gorgeous meadows make it an ideal place to enjoy some time in tranquility.
