Blessed with one of the most spectacular and unmatched beaches across the globe, Havelock Island of Andaman Nicobar is a treat for the eyes and the senses. The island is one of the most frequently visited islands among the entire island cluster at Andaman and draws thousands of tourists every year.

Havelock Island Spread across the Bay of Bengal, Havelock Island also happens to be a backpacker's paradise with perfect beaches to laze around in and some of the best arrangements for snorkelling and scuba diving. The island itself is a cluster of small islands huddled together forming an eye-pleasing view. Out of all the islands that come under Andaman Island, Havelock is the largest one and at a distance of 30 km from the capital, Port Blair.


The island got its name from a British Army official posted here during colonial rule, Maj. Gen. Sir Henry Havelock. Today, the island is home to a number of communities while Bengalis stay in majority.
The cuisine here has a significant influence from Portuguese cuisine and remains one of the highlights here. The island also has some of the most spectacular beaches here, one of which has even won 'Best Beach in Asia' award in the past.

How to Reach

Havelock is at a distance of 30 km from Port Blair and being the most popular island here, easily connected to the rest of the Andaman. There are frequent ferries on a daily basis from Port Blair that takes you to Havelock in 2-4 hours.
